Blind Woman Regains Eye Sight Says Her Husband Is 'More Handsome Than I Could Have Imagined'

Sophia Corah, 24, woke up with poor eyesight in May 2017 and her eyesight quickly began to decline. Within that year she was declared legally blind -- but now she can see again.

Sophia was later diagnosed with keratoconus.

According to John Hopkins, keratoconus "is characterized by the thinning of the cornea and irregularities of the cornea’s surface." and might require a cornea transplant in later stages.

Sophia didn't let her eye condition hold her back, she went off to university to study psychology. She met Christian Corah, 25, and the two instantly hit it off from the start.

Sophia recalls: ‘Christian supported me the whole time while I was blind. He took care of me and made me feel so special.’

Christian started researching keratoconus, he discovered a surgery that could correct Sophia’s eyesight.

Christian ended up helping her raise $20,000 for surgery to help repair her vision. In October 2018, Sophia had surgery.

At first, she wore contacts to help her see – slowly she then regained 20/20 vision in August 2019.

Sophia realized that no one else made her feel like he did.

In October 2020, she took the plunge and told him how she felt.

‘I decided to travel to see him after I had built up the courage to tell him how I felt,’ she explains.

At this point, Sophia had never seen Christian’s face.

She adds: ‘I couldn’t see what Christian looked like when I met him – with keratoconus my vision meant I could see about 10 eyes all over the place so I couldn’t really piece him together.’

Seeing him for the first time didn’t disappoint. She said it was actually overwhelming when she first saw Christian.

'She realized what a cutie he was. He was even more handsome than she could have imagined,' she said.

‘I knew I’d fallen for him and had to tell him how I felt. Luckily he felt the same way.’

Christian says, ‘As soon as I met Sophia, I was drawn to her. She was such a fighter and she’d never use her blindness as an excuse.’

They began dating in October 2020 and it wasn’t long until Christian popped the question. By June that same year, they were married.

Sophia said their "journey" together has been "amazing."

"Christian was there for me in the toughest times of my life and supported me and made me feel so special."

"It brought us so close together."
