Texas Gov Greg Abbot Buses Undocumented Immigrants to Washington DC
On Wednesday, Gov. Greg Abbott announced Texas is sending undocumented immigrants in Washington, D.C.
"As the federal government continues to turn a blind eye to the border crisis, the State of Texas will remain steadfast in our efforts to fill in the gaps and keep Texans safe," Abbott said in a news release. "By busing migrants to Washington, D.C., the Biden Administration will be able to more immediately meet the needs of the people they are allowing to cross our border.”
The governor's office said the passengers were dropped off between Union Station and the U.S. Capitol, according to a news release.
An additional bus is en route to the same destination, according to a news release.
Gov Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to charter buses to transport the migrants to D.C.
"Texas should not have to bear the burden of the Biden Administration’s failure to secure our border," he said Wednesday.
